Doug and Julie Lewis, the owners of Wenlock studios, consider themselves to be very fortunate to be living in idyllic countryside on the Wenlock Edge, just two miles from the historical market town of Much Wenlock in Shropshire (home to the Olympic Games). Doug was born & bred in Much Wenlock; he was trained by the famous Paddy Ryan butcher (whose son still trades in town). Julie has lived in various counties due to her father being in the RAF when they were growing up. Julie’s background is in accounts.
When they are not running their outside catering business “The Whole Hog” Doug can usually be found training gun dogs, whilst Julie is kept busy running the household and apartments. They have four grown up children between them – Oli and Emily (21 year old twins) Tom & Charlotte –both 18 years old. They also have 2 outdoor dogs – Lexi (black Springador) and Ruby (brown cocker spaniel). Two kittens named Bonnie & Clyde, nine chickens and two fish.
Both know that south Shropshire is the perfect place to unwind with wonderful restaurants and places of interest, fabulous walking and cycling, and a landscape that inspired A.E.Housman and Mary Webb. Wenlock studios are the perfect base from which to explore whatever the time of year, and we wanted to create somewhere where we ourselves would like to stay. We expect to be as comfortable away as we are at home and each apartment has been renovated to a very high standard, whilst retaining the character and charm with beamed ceilings and oak floors.
